Summary from Goodreads.
Golf is a game that is made up of multiple aspects that all have an impact on how you play. Unfortunately, putting take up around 40% of your shots, so if you want to see improvements fast, then this is the easiest place to start out.
While Putting Out Of Your Mind is focused on the putting aspect of the game, I have found that the concepts talked about in here are very relatable to other parts of your game. The idea that there is no one correct way to putt is also true to every other aspect of golf. Also Dr. Rotella touches on the concept of ‘to gain control, give up control’. I can think of so many examples from my own game in the past of when I have excepted shots that I would never have dreamt off by trusting my own golfing ability and not trying to do the perfect shot.
While I could very easily list out all of the concepts that he discuss in here, just having the concepts is only a small aspect of what this book is about. Each concept that he discusses has talking points about how other players, some world class, have implemented these very ideas and how they impacted them. Not only that, at no point in reading this did I feel like it was a lecture or just a list of words that I was reading. I felt like I was having a deep conversation with a very old friend.
A great book if you want to improve not just you’re putting but your golf game.
