The Flash: Rebirth

By Geoff Johns, Ethan Van Sciver (Artist), Scott Hanna (Inker), Brian Miller (Colourist), Alex Sinclari (Colourist), Rob Leigh (Letter), Moose Baumann (Cover Illustrator)

Before you make the same mistake as me, this is not the current run of the DC Rebirth as I got too excited and thought that it was.

The Flash: Rebirth was released in 2010 and brings Barry Allen back into the DC Comics universe after a 30 year absence. He has lost touch with time due to being lost in the speed force after saving the earth and, at least in my opinion, has a few screws loose because of this.

Considering my limited knowledge from the handful of times I have watch The Flash TV show, I found The Flash: Rebirth an easy jump on point to introduce me to the characters that are part of this ‘Flash Family’ and I was not overload with information about the technicalities of the speed force.

I will say that even though the last time Barry Allen was in a comic book was 30 years ago, Johns managed to  allude to what happened to cause Barry to disappear but I was not babysat about it. It allowed reader who had actually read the Crisis On Infinite Earths storyline to not feel like it was being repeated for them (at least that is the on that I think it was).

On an completely unrelated note, I am happy to say that after reading The Flash rebirth, the DCEU is in safe hands with Geoff Johns. He is the author of this graphic novel and his understanding of how everything is connected and influences one another in this universe is very refreshing. His ability to push into the unknown without forsaking the history or significance of previous events makes him the perfect person to be over seeing the creation of the DCEU and I am confident that he is going to push it in the right direction for the fans.

4/5
