New Guard

By Robert Muchamore

New Guard is the 17 and final book in the CHERUB series, and the fifth in the Amarov series.

Now I am not going to lie, I am horribly biased towards CHERUB. It was the first young adult series that I ever read and I have fond memories of it (and I do own almost all of the books!). I do feel like New Guard was written for readers who have been reading CHERUB since the beginning and have fallen in love the original gang in the first 12 books.

The writing style is the same as all the other books, fast-paced, actioned packed and defiantly not for younger readers (although New Guard was quite light on the sexual material compared to usual). I feel like their were a couple of logic jumps, but that may just be me getting so excited whilst I was reading it that parts just did not sink.

Like all the other books, it has an epilogue that explains what happens to the main characters in the story. I cannot deiced if I like knowing how each of the teams futures are (well at least their immediate future). Either way it is still nice knowing what they are doing with their life now that their CHERUB days are behind them.

Honestly all I have is praise for New Guard. It may not be the best CHERUB book (for me it is The General), but I am happy that I have read it.

4/5
