Tarnished

By Kate Jarvik Birch

I received a free copy of Tarnished for my honest opinion.

Is it sad that this isn’t the first book that i have read second or third book first?

Some books are written in a way that even if it is the second or third book in a series, you do not need to have read the previous books it still makes sense. Unfortunately Tarnished was not one of those books. Right from the start I was playing catch-up on what was happening, and even after finishing reading Tarnished, i still don’t full understand what is going on.

What I was able to gather from it was that girls are genetically altered to be pets (no not to be able to transformed into pets as i thought). They are meant to be the ‘perfect girl’ and are meant to be superior to other pets like dogs and cats.

Ella, the protagonist, was annoying and completely naive. A lot of what happened did not happen because she went about it, it happened because of who she was with. Missy was constantly changing her mind; she kept changing from being strong and smart to being completely stupid. Penn did not really do much, just pine away for Ella without doing anything.

The was that Tarnished finished, their is defiantly going to be a sequel, but I am not going to be reading it. I am not invested in this story.

2/5
