Red Queen Review

Red Queen

Red Queen

By Victoria Aveyard

I won this book in a book giveaway competition on  You should totally go and check out her book blog! I love it.

To say i loved Red Queen is an understatement.

So Red Queen is set in the future where there are two types of people, the Red bloods and the Silver bloods.  The Reds are ‘common people’, who are basically slaves to the Silvers.  The Silvers also have super awesome powers! Like elemental control, telekinesis and super-super strength to name a few.

Red Queen reminds me of The Hunger Games, even though they are completely different.  It also reminds me of Star Wars.  If you are a Star Wars fan and have read Red Queen you will understand what i am talking about.

It is hard to believe that this is Victoria Aveyard’s debut novel!! Red Queen was written in such a way that i fell in-love with all the characters instantly.  Whether i should have or not is yet to be seen.  I got lost in Red Queen so easily it did feel like i was living it!! I know that its a good book when i feel like that.

Is Victoria a Star Wars fan? Because the way Mare was written it sure felt like it!  And she also credited George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and G.R.R.M. for being inspirations, to name a few.  I was definitely reminded of force lightning and the way Emperor Palatine is not able to control himself at the end of the novel for a certain character.

I would totally recommend Red Queen to anyone who enjoys YA, as well as anyone who wants to read a slightly different book to what you may normally read. So basically anyone!
